Daily Thought - Thursday, March 26

We are still reading John 11—the raising of Lazarus from the dead. There are two Bethany’s in the bible: One is close to the river Jordan river where Jesus starts his ministry by being baptized by John the Baptist and one close to Jerusalem where Jesus is near the end of his life. (Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead triggers the decision to kill Jesus)

I am thinking that it is important that Jesus begins and ends his ministry in towns with the same name—I believe John is telling us that being baptized for God can sometimes lead to death as we live out of faith rather than out of the world.
