He Is Risen!

On this day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Our celebration is schedule to be in accord with the cycles of the cosmos, as if the sun, moon, and earth itself are moving in celebration of Christ. We celebrate Easter on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox (the sun is directly above the earth’s equator---daytime and nighttime are almost of equal lengths all over the planet) In the church building we take out all the things we put away during our Thursday event, and then some. We add more colorful paraments, flowers, “happier” up-lifting music, a fellowship breakfast etc. How can you add to your home worship space---decorated eggs, a colorful Easter basket, a drawing from the children of the open tomb with the stone rolled away.

Prayer of the Day: O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, thought you Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen
